"After several years of making improvements outside, we turned our attention to the outdated kitchen, back entry and wasted breakfast nook, last spring. A postcard mailing received the year before from Forward Designers & Builders was still in our "junk" drawer. We found it and called.
Jef Forward met with us several times to learn how we lived, how we planned to use the new space, and what we envisioned. A few things were "non-negotiable", like a hidden kitty litter box, plenty of shoe storage, the Viking range, wine refrigerator, and cookbook shelves that were easy to access but out of the way. We also needed lots and lots of storage.
Within a couple of months, we had nailed down the final design and budget. Work began in earnest in July. By October as expected, we were cooking and entertaining in a new kitchen that seems bigger - and better - than we could have ever imagined.
From start to finish, the process was upfront and exciting. Regular meetings and hands-on materials selection - for everything from cabinets to flooring, light fixtures to drawer pulls - kept us in the loop. Any changes in scope were documented practically on the spot, so there were no surprises. Even our pets were involved, thanks to a "cat height" window in the dust wall installed between the living and construction areas.
In a nutshell, this remodeling experience was a real pleasure. Working with Jef and his team was a delight; their work was expert, on time and on budget.
