Our challenge was to renovate this 1960s brick ranch into a two story contemporary design, with master suite, two bedrooms and guest quarters. The existing two bedrooms on the first floor were converted to a master suite; the second floor now houses two additional bedrooms and guest quarters.

To soften the visual impact of the second floor addition, the walls were offset from the front of the house. To give the home a unified feeling, new windows on the second floor were organized in a symmetrical manner over the original windows on the first floor. And, to enhance the overall exterior, the existing red brick on the first floor was painted to match the stucco used on the second story addition.
