reading alcove

Our home owner's objective was to change this 'dormitory' hallway which was 45 feet long, and dark and daunting to their two young children.

Our solution shortened the hallway by relocating a bedroom door, which created a true master suite. Furthermore, we converted a small radio room into a reading alcove, completely open to the hallway. Combining these two functions into one 'layered' space allows the reading alcove to be cozy without confinement, and the hallway to be filled with natural light.
