Using an island organizes circulation The existing kitchen of this 1920s bungalow was small and did not allow for family gatherings. To gain additional space we removed a wall and expanded the kitchen into the breakfast nook. Our design goal was a simple country kitchen where cooking, eating and conversation could happen in one comfortable room. Due to the space limitations, the separate island and table concept of the country kitchen was not possible. The solution was to combine the two functions into one island. |
