OUR WORK
Primary Suite and Kids' Bath Remodel in Ann Arbor Hills, Ann Arbor
Two dark, moldy bathrooms became light, airy spaces built for the long haul.
THE STORY
What the homeowners wanted, and what we found.
WHAT THEY WANTED
These homeowners planned to stay in their home for a long time. First on their list was getting rid of the mold. They also wanted light, well-ventilated bathrooms, better closet organization and a sit-down shower, in both the primary bath and the kids' bath. The bathrooms they had were dark, closed in and dated.
WHAT WE FOUND
We found mold, which made safety the first priority. The primary shower was closed in under a soffit, and the single sink sat in an awkward spot. Several closets wasted space, and the kids' bath had unused room.
HOW WE DESIGNED IT
We reworked the layout so the larger bathroom could fit a walk-in, sit-down shower.
THE INSPIRATION
Calm, clean and built to last. The homeowners planned to stay a long time, so every choice had to hold up. One modern color scheme carries through both bathrooms and ties them together.
THE PLAN
We designed a closet and ironing space around the homeowners' routines. Reworking the smaller bath freed up room for a walk-in, sit-down shower in the larger one. A new beam supports the wall that holds the pocket door to the primary bath and closet. Both bathrooms share a calm, modern color scheme.
THE OUTCOME
How it turned out
The homeowners start and end their days in bright, fresh bathrooms with no mold in sight. The sit-down shower works for them now and as they get older. Their closet fits the way they live, with a spot for ironing built right in.

WHAT MAKES IT WORK
Three details that carry the design.

FEATURE 01
Gray-blue tile ties both bathrooms together, set off by cream and gold double sinks and rich brown cabinets. A white quartz counter with gray veins adds a soft glow, so the room feels calm and spa-like.

FEATURE 02
The walk-in, sit-down shower is accessible for anyone at any age. The homeowners wanted a bathroom that would keep working for them as they grow older, and this one will.

FEATURE 03
Out went the dated paint colors, the mold and the layouts that didn't work. Everything in these bathrooms is new, so the homeowners got a fresh start in the home they plan to stay in.
