OUR WORK
Traditional Exterior Remodel in Ann Arbor Hills, Ann Arbor
A dated, chalet-style exterior became a classic, welcoming home the family loves to pull up to.
THE STORY
What the homeowners wanted, and what we found.
WHAT THEY WANTED
These Ann Arbor Hills homeowners had already remodeled their interior with us, and they came back for the part that always bothered them. They wanted real curb appeal and a classic, welcoming look. The brick and chalet-style front felt dated and nothing like their style.
WHAT WE FOUND
The home had good structure and presence, but the exterior felt dated. The materials and finishes didn't work together. The brick, in particular, weighed the whole front down.
HOW WE DESIGNED IT
We softened the brick with a limestone wash and wrapped the home in all-new white siding.
THE INSPIRATION
They loved how it lived. They wanted to love how it looked. The homeowners never liked their home's chalet look from the street, so a limestone wash and fresh white siding steered it toward classic American traditional.
THE PLAN
This project changed the outside, not the floor plan. A limestone wash softened the brick and gave it aged, traditional character. All-new white siding shifted the home from chalet to American traditional. Refined exterior details pulled the look together.
THE OUTCOME
How it turned out
The homeowners pull into the driveway and like what they see. The house looks traditional, pulled together and timeless. It finally looks as good outside as it works inside.

WHAT MAKES IT WORK
Three details that carry the design.
FEATURE 01
A limestone wash softens the brick and gives it an aged, traditional character. The brick now adds charm instead of weighing the house down.
FEATURE 02
All-new white siding shifted the home from a chalet look to American traditional. It brightens the front and gives the house a fresh, clean identity.
FEATURE 03
Softer brick, brighter siding and refined details work together as one look. The home has a stronger presence from the moment you arrive, and it finally feels like the homeowners.
